I was just wondering where the art for Sayaka and Horusman comes from? It's just to check it's not fanart really, as we tend to prioritise MS > Manga > Anime, but I'm not sure I recognise them from those. If it's an official source though, then no worries :)
Thank you immensely again for all your hard work.
It's hugely appreciated, and the templates, articles, and artwork are incredibly useful :)
I'll do a quick search later, see if we can turn up any results. I know a few items on that page are official, including scans, but a few seem an odd quality for official artworks. I'll let you know what turns up; if it's official, or can't be confirmed, seems perfectly fine to leave up. My only concern is if they're fanart, but fingers crossed the source is Yudetamago as stated 🙂
We did a few reverse image searches, and can't seem to find the images anywhere. We found an old message of the previous admin, talking about some obscure art related to fan-submissions, but it's difficult to believe that the case here, as the styles are all by the same artist. It doesn't seem from an official source by the quality of the images, either.
We discussed it, and it seems a bit harsh to delete the images, when we can't verify them and they could be official, but equally we're reluctant to add more when there's a potential copyright issue, if they do turn out to be fanart. The previous images can remain, but we would like to ask that no more be posted, unless a solid source can confirm they're official (not necessarily by Yudetamago even, but by the company, promotional artwork, manga submissions, etc.)
Hope this is okay, and thank you again for your amazing work :)
Just a small note, but I thought I'd ask if you could mark images as "fair use" when you update :) We've been working on some behind-the-scenes fixes, and adding categories to images is one of the things we're working on. In all fairness, Fandom does not make it easy to see the "licensing" option, and it seems to have caught a lot of people out (admins included). Depending on how you upload, you might need to click "more options".
Thank you in advance, if you can :)
And thank you so much for all your wonderful work, too :)
A lot of the previously unused or stub articles are looking much better, and the infoboxes and images are a great addition (some of the images look just perfect, too). It's easy to see your passion for the series, and how much time you've invested into maintaining the wiki, and it's very much appreciated.
Hey no problem, man! Thank you for being so welcoming.
Strangely enough... my passion comes from my love of collecting M.U.S.C.L.E. toys as a kid. As a result, in recent years, I've started to really dig in on the Kinnikuman anime series (or at least, the episodes/movies that are currently translated/subtitled into English).
Unfortunately, as of right now, none of the other episodes of the original series have subtitles, so you may notice most of my edits start to pivot toward the Ramenman and Ultimate Muscle animes. Fingers crossed that the fans eventually get subbing the Dream Chojin Tag Arc...
Okay, this one took me a while to find the cause ^_^()
Basically, a very specific editor used to insert wildly false information, and - even now - we're still catching their mistakes, like calling a character "28" when they are "14" in canon. When we catch these mistakes, we correct them with references (for proof), and - in case of no alternate facts - we outright remove them when there's no proof or references at all. I suspect this is one such case.
The edit adding Benefict came from me, but my edit came from their insertion/allowance of such a fact onto the "Robin Mask" page, which was before my time. I have just spent ages scouring the Chojin Encyclopaedia, and the "Prince of London" arc, and can't find any such character. That's not to say they don't exist, but just that I personally cannot find a source or reference . . . which is why we try and insist on references for absolutely everything these days (not so much for "story", as people can just easily find these things in the manga, but always for "facts" and "statistics" and so forth, for exactly these reasons).
tl;dr If you want to remove the "ancestor" until a reference can be found, that's absolutely fine and I would fully agree with your decision . . . I left it, mainly as I couldn't disprove it, and wasn't certain, plus it rings a bell for some reason (maybe just from having seen it on the wiki so much, though). I'll leave it to your discretion, but - no - I can't find a source/reference either.
It turns out that user was correct, and I eventually found a source.
It should be in "Volume 27" of "Kinnikuman Nisei"; I saw the scans, so it's legitimate, but - if you want a precise chapter - I can check my RAWs and translated paperbacks later, and get you a chapter or a page number. So it does appear to be legitimate (although I would have translated it as "Benedict", and will be curious to check how it was officially translated).
In any case, I've added references to both articles for you :)
Despite it being "fu", I'd be inclined to go with "Benedict", but I'm not fluent, so I'll admit that I could be making a mistake to say for certain: "it should be Benedict". I'll therefore leave it to the judgement of other editors, who might be more familiar with the nuances of transliterating foreign names. Hope it helps, though, and thank you again for your patience :)
Weirdly, Google also does the same in general, as searching the forename alone with "III" brings up Pope Benedict 🤔 It's why it's so odd to me; admittedly, it could very well be an auto-correct situation of Google's part, though.
Yeah, I just searched some Japanese blogs and people describe eating “Eggs Benefict”, haha. It’s weird. It’s spelled completely wrong in Katakana but maybe Benedict is what it really means. Then again, maybe it’s just a typo on those blogs.
I’m still inclined to say it’s Benefict as that’s what the katakana actually says. But I’m happy to go with whatever you guys want. I’m not fussed.
Just wanted to thank you so much for your work, especially the infoboxes and images on the episode pages; you've done an excellent job, they look much better, and it's very much appreciated.
I just thought I'd ask that you mark minor edits as "minor", though, and remember to use edit summaries to say what was changed (just an 'added infobox/image' is fine, doesn't need to be long). It's just that - with so many edits - it makes it a little easier to moderate, as we know you're a trusted editor, so we can see the notes go "ah, that was the change", and continue down the log.
It's also helpful for other editors who might look to see what changed, too.
Thank you in advance, and congrats again on great work!
Hi there, DaHumorist! I just wanted to come and extend my thanks for all of the edits you've been making. As KevinVolkov said, it's been really helpful and we're always happy to have more editors on board (and it's also super great you've been enjoying the anime!)
As a head's up, we like to have headers on articles with infoboxes, so that we can encourage new editors to add content, as it gives them an idea what they could contribute. So if you're able to include those when you're updating certain pages, that would be great. You can find our standard article layout here. Also, if you could, it'd be great not to include dead links; please only link to pages that already exist, or one you can include an interwiki link to. And if you ever feel you could expand on any of the stubs generally, that would honestly be fantastic! :D
Again, thank you so much for your help. We appreciate it a lot!
Heyo! Glad to be of service! Going forward, I'll def try to remember to include the full article template/headers when upgrading/creating pages, and I'll do my best to create fewer dead links as well. Expect more contributions on the way. I'm kind of obsessed and on a roll now!
Just a thank you for your hard work on the info-boxes on minor character pages; it really helps to bring them in uniform with the rest of the wiki, as well as to make information more accessible, and we really appreciate your time and effort on these changs. It's very much appreciated.
While I think it's a great idea to add links to the episode summaries, I wondered whether it would be better to also leave the summaries on there? I know they're also on the episode lists, so maybe it'd be redundant, but it could also be useful to people who may be searching via the list?
I'll leave the decision up to you, as it's just an idea; it does also work fine as it is, too :)
Thank you so much for adding the links, though; I was just about to finish the rest, but you beat me to it and it was already completed, lol. It looks great, though, and I really appreciate the work put into the page. It must have been a lot of work, and the effort really was worth it :)
Thanks for the kind words. I'm not entirely opposed to leaving the summaries on the episode list page, but since it felt redundant, I figured it was best to delete them for now. Maybe down the line, if we have more detailed summaries on the episode pages, we can transfer the shorter, one-line summaries back to the list page?
As you noticed, all episodes should now be restored, as have two of your characters (so too will the Duke, but I'm having trouble editing the character list on mobile, and would like to update both in tandum, so it may be an hour or so, but it'll be restored too). I hope this helps, and please do feel free to contact me with concerns in future :)
The wiki is a community project, and all your work is most valued; I initially deleted as the summaries were being added to the episode list, and the two pages then felt identical in content (to an extent), so your reasoning would have been incredibly helpful for context (and one to which I agree). I would have restored them right away, had I known. As such, I can only apologise again.
